A little bit of Howard history:

A humble man who loves the game of baseball - Reginald Howard.

Howard traces his interest in baseball to his childhood, when he would sell the Chicago Defender newspaper and pass Hodges Hotel, on Chapin Street,  where Negro League players often stayed.

"I would see how they were treated, like they were rock stars," he recalled. "That was it."

Reginald Howard is one of the most articulate and passionate historians who can recount, first-hand, the experience of the industry of Professional Black Baseball.

He can trace family ties to the game of baseball through his uncle, the late Hubert Mitchell, who played outfield in the 1920's for the  Memphis Red Sox.

Howard on Baseball:

"...humility comes out of problems, hard times, and [the kids of today] don't have many problems."

"Life is funny. Things that are unpleasant to you, you don't remember. I think it's a natural way the Supreme Being gives us to block things out."
